a path to home

With the Russian assault on Ukraine now in its third year, millions of Ukraianians are displaced and seeking refugee and humanitarian assistance.

The Ukrainian Support Project: Refugee Community Alliance was formed in 2023 to help meet this urgent need. The group’s mission is to resettle and support a family of Ukrainian refugees to the greater Boston area. We have recently been matched with a family, who have arrived safely in Massachusetts! We are now focused on settling them into the community!

How can you help?

Incredibly, the family has been forced from their home twice. In 2014, they lost their home when Russia invaded the Donbas region of Ukraine. They moved to Kherson and rebuilt their lives. In February 2022, Russia invaded and occupied several areas of Ukraine, including Kherson. In the following months, the area’s residents suffered aerial bombardment, brutal repression of civilian protest, arbitrary detention of civilians and kidnapping of children. The family fled Ukraine and made their way to Romania. With our help, they will resettle in the United States in MA in August 2024, as in Romania they have limited access to refugee services and educational opportunities for their daughters.

  • Help us find a car for the family

The family is residing in a residential area, with no easy access to public transportation. We are looking for a car for the family.

Please consider donating your used vehicle.

  • Help us raise funds for living expenses

As we all know it is expensive to live in the Boston area. USP will continue to raise funds for housing rental costs, food, clothes and personal expenses until the family is on their feet and able to take on these expenses themselves.

Please consider making a donation toward living expenses for the family.

All contributions to the Car Fund and to Living Expenses can be made

via GOFUNDME, or by sending a check payable to Old South United Methodist Church [note Ukrainian Support Project in memo line] to P.O. Box 54, Reading, MA 01867.
